She was first applied for in May (i think) of 2001, came home in Feb / March of 2002. She was ten at adoption, a bilateral below elbow amputee (as you can see from photo, left arm ends below elbow and right arm ends below wrist). She spoke no English at adoption, but was 99.999% independent, needing very little assistance with anything, which amazed us (and everyone else who met her - Tracie Andis has known Li since adoption, also). She adapted well to our family, esp since her three little sisters are from China also, and she has always been very nurturing to them, and very obedient to us. She has always been unafraid of trying almost any new experience or situation. She is now a confessed Christian, enjoys both Sunday church youth groups at our home church, St Andrews Anglican Church, and Wednesday night youth group at Woodford Community Christian Church, both here in Versailles. Li excels in soccer, is a member of the Arsenal U-14 Girls' soccer team in the WYSA league; they were undefeated this season. Just last weekend she and her team attended the invitational State Soccer Championships in Bowling Green, winning two of their three competitions. Li has two close friends, Shannon and Sarah, and many other friends and buddies in her various activities and pursuits. She also excels in drawing, Writing, Science and ESL classes. She often tells us she wants to grow up to be an astronaut, or a world - class soccer player. There is no doubt in our minds or hearts, that either dream is within her grasp.
