Special Children for Special Families!
A Helping Hand was approved to become a part of the CCAA’s Special Needs program in January, 2002. Since then, AHH has regularly received special needs listings from the CCAA and have successfully placed approximately 78% of these children with forever families. AHH approaches our Special Delivery children with the mindset that there are families who need special needs children as much as these children need special families.
Vast arrays of special needs are seen in the children’s files received from the CCAA. Some of these needs are significant and life-altering -- they cannot be remedied, only accommodated. Other special needs can be easily treated or medically minimized. The decision of the degree of special needs a family chooses to accept is made by the parents. Some families feel prepared to adopt a child with a serious special need while other families feel called to adopt a child with minimal special needs. The choice belongs to the family.
Information concerning our Special Delivery Program can be found on the following pages. Continue reading for additional information concerning the process and timeline for children in our Special Delivery program. You will also find information concerning various special needs commonly referred by the CCAA.
We applaud the families who have opened their hearts and homes to these beautiful children. We are encouraged and inspired by the families who have chosen to offer special needs children the chance at a healthy life and a forever family.
